Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 10, 2025 · Last updated: June 10, 2025

NeighVolt ("we", "our", or "us") operates the NeighVolt mobile application and the NeighVolt web portal (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

When you register, we collect your full name, email address, unit number, and password (stored as a secure hash — we never store your plain-text password).

Vehicle information

We collect your vehicle make, model, and license plate number so community administrators can verify your identity at charging spots.

Usage data

We collect records of your charging sessions including start time, end time, duration, and the charging spot used. We also collect queue activity (when you join or leave the queue).

Device token

With your permission, we collect your device's push notification token to send you alerts about charging spot availability and queue status.

Location

We request location access only during registration to suggest the nearest community. We do not track your location continuously or store precise location history.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To manage your community membership and charging access
  • To operate the queue system and notify you when a spot is available
  • To send push notifications about your session status, queue position, and time limits
  • To allow community administrators to verify your identity and manage access
  • To enforce fair-use policies configured by your community
  • To provide you with a history of your charging sessions
  • To improve the reliability and performance of the Service

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. Your information is shared only in these limited circumstances:

Community administrators — Your name, unit number, vehicle information, and charging activity are visible to the administrators of your registered community.
Infrastructure providers — We use Supabase for data storage and Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) for notifications. These providers process your data solely to operate the Service and are bound by their own privacy policies.
Legal requirements — We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.

4. Push Notifications

With your permission, NeighVolt sends push notifications to alert you when a charging spot becomes available, when you reach the front of the queue, when your session is approaching the community time limit, and when your account status changes. You can disable notifications at any time in your iPhone Settings → Notifications → NeighVolt.

5. Data Retention

Your account data is retained for as long as your account is active. Charging session history is retained for 12 months. If your account is deleted, your personal information is removed within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated usage statistics may be retained indefinitely for service improvement purposes.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords, and row-level access controls. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.

7. Children's Privacy

NeighVolt is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Opt out of push notifications at any time via iOS Settings

To exercise these rights, contact your community administrator or delete your account through the NeighVolt app (Profile → Delete Account).

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the effective date above. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
